I took a trip up north to the Little Sahara Sand Dunes with a good friend, photographer, boss businesswoman, and super mom Sarah aka Sarait_photography. There are a few things that fill my cup in life like an adventure, good conversation, even better company, and creative exploration. To be honest the concept for this shoot is something I’ve always dreamt about and never thought of actually planning it out. I love the vastness of sand dunes and how they just appear never-ending. The smoothness of the sand is captivating and adds some strange elegance to my brain. Top that with the gorgeous model Nana wearing a stunning wedding dress from rawgoldenrentals that gave bohemian goddess vibes. I couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out! Things to know about going to this location is that it was about 2 1/2 hours from Southern Utah and we went during the off-season so there were hardly any people messing up that gorgeous sand I love. To enter you have to pay an $18 fee for the day that can be paid online ahead of time, scan using the code at the location (they even offer free guest wifi), or cash/check. Once you drive into the recreation area there are a few different routes you could take to various campgrounds with different scenery and plant life. I chose to follow the biggest mountain of sand that looked glossy and untouched. Once we started shooting we were the only people out there aside from a group of people getting their desert toys ready for action. Even during the harshest time of day to do a photoshoot, the photos turned out amazing and the lighting added the editorial look I was hoping for.
One thing I wish I had thought of in the morning was to pack my portable phone charger for emergencies, way more snacks, and a changing tent. You live and you learn but I look forward to going back again. Enjoy a little bts of the day!
